AUTO CENTRIC SYSTEM FOR FOUR JAW CHUCK

AUTO CENTRIC SYSTEM FOR FOUR JAW CHUCK

SYNOPSIS:

A material into a chuck of a lathe is fixed by compressing jaws. A typical chuck has four jaws. Because, in the general turning processing, we make a column part as the center of a material. Then the four-jaw chuck is very convenient.

FUNCTION:

When we make an offset part, or drill an offset hole, a four-jaw chuck is used. In the case of the four-jaw chuck, the position of each jaw can be adjusted finely and optionally, and the chuck can fix the material optional position (central position). Four proximity sensors are used to position the four jaws. Jaws can be moved by relay connected. A chuck body centered on and rotatable about a body axis; four jaws moved finely towards the centre position. Four jaw chucks has independently adjustable jaws. It can be used to center parts that are not round. Each jaw is adjusted accordingly and the part is verified to be on center.

ADVANTAGES:

They can be used to hold irregularly shaped parts.
They can be used to center parts with a great deal of accuracy.
They can be used to deliberately hold a part off-center.
They can clamp the part tighter. This is a valuable asset when machining cams, crankshafts, and similar parts.

DISADVANTAGE:

It is difficult to adjust the position of the material.
It is take a lot of time is needed for changing of the chuck.
The four-jaw chuck is not used always except unavoidable cases.

APPLICATION:

Many machine tools such as lathes, grinders, milling machines and even numerical controlled machines.
The stress on each component to cause a jaw to grippingly engage a work piece can be minimized thus reducing the need for high tensile steels in many of the chuck components.
Quick and safe clamping of car and light-truck wheels (Tyre changer for truck, bus and agricultural tyre)
